Fresh Hepatocytes

We offer fresh animal hepatocytes in suspension format, multi-well plates (6-, 12-, 24-, 48-, and 96-, and 384 well plate) or T-flasks plated formats. Each lot of fresh hepatocytes is tested before release to ensure that hepatocytes are high quality and high viability. Hepatocytes in suspension are at least 90% viable. Plated hepatocyte monolayers are at least 85% confluent.

We offer HepSpan™ primary hepatocyte medium kit for long-term maintenance in vitro. HepSpan™ primary hepatocyte medium kit is optimized for primary hepatocyte to enhance cell viability and function.  HepMax™is more representative of the liver’s extracellular environment for the initiation and maintenance of primary hepatocytes long-term cultures. Effectively maintain morphology and function of primary hepatocyte in conventional 2D cultures for 4 weeks without Matrigel overlay or co-culturing of primary hepatocytes with other species of cells. 

Raw material screening and quality control ensure minimal lot-to-lot variability. Each lot of HepSpan™ primary hepatocyte medium is tested before release.

Primary hepatocytes and their adherent cultures are the gold standard in vitro tool to evaluate liver toxicity, drug metabolism, cytochrome P450 (P450) induction, drug interactions affecting hepatic metabolism, viral infection, inflammation, liver development and regeneration.

However, Primary hepatocytes rapidly lose their morphology and liver-specific functions over a few days in standard culture. MB Biosciences provide HepSpan™ready-to-use long-term culture of primary hepatocytes, which is an innovative platform for ADME/TOX, viral infection, inflammation and liver biology study.

HepSpan™Hepatocytes is ready-to-use cultured primary hepatocyte that were suitable plated and cultured with proprietary formulated HepSpan™ medium for the prolonged culture. HepSpan™Primary hepatocyte maintains primary hepatocyte viability and typical morphology for several weeks in user-friendly 2D-culture formats (24 wells, 48 wells, 96 wells and 384 wells).Multi-species available (Human, Rat, Mouse, Dog, Monkey)

We offer AssayReady™ Sandwich Cultured Fresh Hepatocyte System for drug transport, transport protein regulation, drug-drug interactions, and hepatotoxicity studies. Ready-to-use Sandwich Cultured Fresh Hepatocyte in multi-well plate formats (6-, 12-, 24-, 48-, 96-, and 384 well plate). Our AssayReady™ Hepatocyte form an in-vivo-like hepatobiliary network that is critical for studying hepatic functional activity, maintains hepatocyte-specific morphology, and improves basal and induced CYP450 activities. Each lot of Ready-to-Use AssayReady™ Hepatocyte is tested before release to ensure that hepatocytes are high quality and high viability.

We deliver a number of different AssayReady™ Cell-based Permeability Systems which offer a differentiated epithelial cell barriers that can be easily and directly used in permeability measurement and transport of drugs into tissues as well as across cell membranes, including intestinal, airway, ocular, oral absorption and BBB permeation.

Our AssayReady™ Cell-based Permeability System consists of Caco-2 (intestinal epithelial), T84 (intestinal epithelial), MDR-1/MDCK (kidney epithelial transfected with MDR1 gene), Calu3 (airway epithelial) and P-gp-induced Caco-2 permeability systems in multi-well plate formats (6-, 12-, 24-, 96 well plate). These time saving and cost-effective permeability systems are ready to use and adaptable to high throughput screening. Our unique technology ensures high stability of differentiated cell barrier and maintains full cell functionality after transportation.
